Caroline 5 I had never used Japanese style blocks of curry before, simply because there are no vegetarian ones in Japan and in England I always made curry from scratch anyway. Now I see why the Japanese make curry this way: it is so easy! This is vegetarian, but there is cheese listed in the ingredients so it is not vegan. Not sure why they felt they had to add cheese to a curry! If they took out the cheese, it would be completely vegan. It is really good though. I add loads of veg: more onion, garlic and ginger, plus things like green pepper, marrowfat peas, goya, aubergine, mushroom, carrot, lotus root, potato, broccoli, strips of aburage, cubes of atsuage and so on. I can thoroughly recommend this but I hope the manufacturers take out the cheese in the future; it is not necessary.
